STRAIN

Strain was the third of the three consecutive performances presented during one evening. As the performances existed within one space the changes between each piece were made evident through lighting and projection changes, shifts in soundscapes and the differing personas of performers.

Strain explored physical performance and the concept of mediated space. For this piece the audience were moved to the edges of the room and the chairs that they had used become set pieces. The chairs were used to create shapes and structures which were instantly dismantled to create new different architectures. Throughout this work the performers took their cues from the faces projected around them – eventually working at a frenzied pace.
